Hail conditions
all personnel wear protective clothing, including eye protection. Officer discretion for company to seek shelter
PFD’s w/ lifeline shall be worn if
Rapidly moving water > 2 ft deep, or any time water depth is unable to be determined
Lightning operations
Personnel not actively involved in rescue operations should remain in apparatus or inside a structure.
Aerial, ground ladder or any roof operations should be halted
Crews operating in wind gusts/sustained at __ mph will wear helmets, bunker coat, and eye protection.
30 MPH
aerial operations halted at __ mph winds
35 mph
Sustained winds of __ mph, only critical fire fighting operations should be undertaken, all high profile and light weight vehicles should not be used.
50 mph
Hurricane Eye Operations
Limited to re-securing the fire station, and assisting citizens who come to the station and it would be a danger to release them.
Tornado Operations
If possible drive away at right angles to the direction of travel. If escape not possible, abandon apparatus and seek shelter in sturdy building or ditch/culvert and keep crew together.
Tornado ops (if in station)
Mount apparatus and move away if safe to do so, if not seek shelter in predetermined “safe-room” in station
