What are some common features of infants with SIDS? What is the known preventable risk factor?

A
  • Common features:
    • Occur more often during sleep
    • More in males, winter, higher latitudes
    • Rare in first few weeks of life
    • Recent URTI associated
    • More common in lower SES households, but not restricted to these
  • Sleeping a baby on its back reduces the risk of SIDS
