What are the principles of taking an obstetric history?
A
- Establishing pregnancy (LNMP > 4 weeks ago, nausea, breast tenderness, nipple discharge, frequency) - urinary and serum bHCG
- Name, age, parity, gestation, presenting problem
- Gestation (Day 1 LNMP + 9 months 7 days)
- Other pregnancies (year, gestation, outcome, management)
- Gynae history (menstrual, sexual, PCOS, fertility, surgery)
- Medications and allergies (folate! teratogens, penicillins)
- FHx - diabetes, pregnancies
- SHx - smoking/EtOH/drugs, relationships/support/domestic violence, support, occupation, diet, exercise
