Q

Describe the neonatal resuscitation algorithm

A
  • Term gestation/breathing/crying/good tone - prevent heat loss, continue to evaluate
    • No? - prevent heat loss, ensure open airway, stimulate
    • HR below 100/gasping/apnoea? - CPAP, SpO2 monitoring
      • Ensure open airway, consider increasing CPAP if no response in HR
    • HR below 60? - add chest compressions 3 per breath, 100% O2, consider intubation
      • IV access, adrenaline, volume expansion
