Scaphoid Views
- Cassette - 24x30, vertical,divided into quarters
- Positioning - seated or kneeling at the end of the table, elbow is bent at 90 and resting on the table. One hand on one quarter of the cassette and cover the rest with lead sheeting.
- Position Hands in the approproate positions for:
a) PA with ulnar deviation
b) PA with ulnar deviation and 25-30 tube tilt towards elbow
c) PA with ulnar deviation and magnification - 10cm OID, wrist on sponge
d) lateral spot view if lateral wrist not taken
Stabilization - rest elbow on the table
Shielding - Gonad shielding/lead apron
Instructions - ensure no legs under table
SID - 100cm
Central Ray - centred over scaphoid on the anatomical snuffbox
Tube Tilt - 0 except on the towards elbow view 25-30
Collimation - M-L, include scaphoid bone and surrounds joint spaces, include soft tissue of wrists if needed. S-I, scaphoid bone and surround joint spaces
kV - Children 50 and adults 60
Marker Placement - lateral to the anatomy
