AP Lower Leg

A
  • Cassette - 35x43, vertical or oblique
  • Positioning - non weight bearing with pt sitting or lying on the floor with leg over cassette (placed diagonally).
  • Stabilization - pt is lying or seated comfortably
  • Shielding - Gonad shielding/lead apron
  • Instructions - palpate malleoli to ensure equal distance from cassette
  • SID - 100cm
  • Central Ray - Midshaft
  • Tube Tilt - 0
  • Collimation - M-L, include soft tissues of the leg. S-I, include the ankle and knee joints and include patella base if possible
  • kV - Children 60 and adults 70
  • Marker Placement - lateral to the anatomy

Lateral Lower Leg

A
  • Cassette - 35x43, vertical or oblique
  • Positioning - pt is lying on the floor and extended over the cassette (placed diagonally). If leg is too long the use oblique length
  • Stabilization - sidelying comfortbly
  • Shielding - Gonad shielding
  • Instructions - palpate melleoli and condyles top check superimposition
  • SID - 100cm
  • Central Ray - Midshaft
  • Tube Tilt - 0
  • Collimation - A-P, all the soft tissues of the leg. S-I, include the ankle joints and patella base if possible
  • kV - Children 60 and adults 70
  • Marker Placement - anterior to the anatomy
