  • AP (Hip and Femur knee up)
  • Lateral (Hip and Femur knee up)

AP Femur (knee up)

A
  • Cassette - 35x43, vertical, in bucky (weight bearing)
  • Positioning - Weight bearing, pt against bucky facing x-ray tube with feet internally rotated 10 degrees Non-weight bearing, pt is supine and feet internally rotated
  • Stabilization - Neutral stance or lying comfortably
  • Shielding - Gonad shielding without obscuring anatomy
  • Instructions - Stand comfortably
  • SID - 100cm Central Ray - middle of the collimated view
  • Tube Tilt - 0
  • Collimation - M-L, include soft tissue of quads S-I, just within the borders of the cassette to include the knee below the patella
  • kV - Children 60 and adults 75
  • Marker Placement - lateral to the anatomy

Lateral Femur (knee up)

A
  • Cassette - 35x43, vertical, in bucky (weight bearing)
  • Positioning - Weight bearing, fencer stance with greater trochanter against the bucky, flex hip and knee to 25-30 degrees. Ensure the epicondyles are imposed. Box can be used to stablize. Non-weight bearing, pt is side lying with leg in same position
  • Stabilization - relaxed stance or sidelying comfortably
  • Shielding - Gonad shielding without obscuring anatomy
  • Instructions - Stand comfortably
  • SID - 100cm
  • Central Ray - middle of the collimated view
  • Tube Tilt - 0
  • Collimation - M-L, include soft tissue adductor muscles S-I, just within the borders of the cassette to include the knee below the patella
  • kV - Children 60 and adults 75
  • Marker Placement - anterior to the anatomy
