AP Cervical

A
  • Cassette - 18x24 or 24x30 vertica; in bucky
  • Pt Positioning - in gown, neutral stance with slight head extension
  • Immobilisation - comfortable neutral stance, breathing is suspended expiration
  • Safety - Gonad shielding
  • Marker - Lateral to anatomy
  • SID - 100cm
  • CR - C4 accounting for tube tilt
  • Tube Tilt - 10-15 caphalad
  • Collimation - M-L soft tissue and mastoid process. S-I - body of mandible and just above sternal notch
  • kV - children 60 and adults 70

APOM Cervical

A
  • Cassette - 18x24 vertical in bucky
  • Pt Positioning - back against byucky and open mouth fully, extend until upper incisors are superimposed over the base of occiput and immobilise. open mouth and hold
  • Immobilisation - neutral and comfortable, no breathing
  • Safety - gonid shielding
  • Marker - lateral
  • SID - 100
  • CR - uvula
  • Tube Tilt - 0
  • Collimation - M-L all soft tissue and mastoid process, S-I below the level of the eyes and mental notch
  • kV - children 60 and adults 70

Lateral Cervical

A
  • Cassette - 18x24 or 24x30 vertical in bucky
  • Pt Positioning - shoulder against bucky, relax shoulders and sandbags can be used to depress the shoudlers
  • Immobilisation - wide stance, suspended expiration
  • Safety - gonad shielding
  • Marker - anterior
  • SID - 180
  • CR - C4
  • Tube Tilt - 0
  • Collimation - A-P - 2.5cm in front of EAM and all soft tissue, 2.5cm above EAM to T1
  • kV - children 60 and adults 70

Oblique Cervicals

A
  • Cassette - 18x24 or 24x30 vertical in the bucky
  • Pt Positioning - PA obliques - face bucky and rotate 45 towards one side, rotate further to avoid superimposed mandible, elevate chin. AP -face xray tube and rotate 45 towards one side, rotate further to avoid superimposed mandible, elevate chin
  • Immobilisation - comfortable stance with suspended expiration
  • Safety - gonad shielding
  • Marker - lateral to anatomy
  • SID - 100
  • CR - C4
  • Tube Tilt - Pa- 10-15 caudad and AP - 10-15 cephalad
  • Collimation - M-L to include all soft tissues and mastoid process. S-I - below the levels of the eyes and include the T1 spinous process
  • kV - children 60 and adults 70

Flexion Cervical

A

Cassette - 24x30cm vertical

Pt Positioning - pt stands with left shoulder against bucky and asked to tuck chin and flex head and neck as far down as comfortable. relax shoulders

Immobilisation - neutral stand, suspended expiration

Safety - gonad shielding or quarter moon eye filter

Marker - anterior to anatomy

SID - 180

CR - c4

Tube Tilt - 0

Collimation - 2.5 in front of EAM behind the eyes and all soft tissue. S-I 2.5cm above the EAM to T1

kV - children 60 and adults 70

Extension Cervical

A
  • Cassette - 24x30cm vertical in bucky
  • Pt Positioning - left shoulder against bucky, extend head and neck back as far as possible. relax shoulders
  • Immobilisation - comfortable and neutral stance, suspended expiration
  • Safety - gonad and moon eye filter
  • Marker - anterior to anatomy
  • SID - 180cm
  • CR - C4
  • Tube Tilt - 0
  • Collimation - A-P 2.5 in front fo EAM and all soft tissues and S-I 2.5 above EAm to T1
  • kV - children 60 and adults 70

Swimmers Lateral Cervicothoracic Junction

A

Cassette - 18x24 vertical

Pt Positioning - shoulder against bucky and rotated anterior 5 degress. flex arm closest top bucky approx 135 and rest on head

Immobilisation - comfortable neutral and suspended expiration

Safety - gonad and moon eye

Marker - anterior

SID - 100

CR - above tip of shoulder

Tube Tilt - 0

Collimation - A-P - all soft tissues and S-I C6 to T2

kV - children 60 and adults 70
