Q

AP Pelvis

A
  • Cassette - 35x43, horizontal, in bucky
  • Positioning - Weight bearing, pt against bucky facing x-ray tube with hips internally rotated 15 to 20 degrees. Non-weight bearing, pt is supine and hips internally rotated
  • Stabilization - Neutral stance or lying comfortably
  • Shielding - Gonad shielding without obscuring anatomy
  • Instructions - Stand comfortably
  • SID - 100cm
  • Central Ray - Centre Cassette, midway between level of ASIS and pubis symphysis
  • Tube Tilt - 0
  • Collimation - M-L, include greater trochanter S-I, top of the cassette 2cm above iliac crest and collimate smaller than cassette with as much femur as possible, include ischial tuberosities and lesser trochanters kV -
  • Children 70 and adults 80
  • Marker Placement - Superolateral to the anatomy

  • Stabilization – standing comfortably, arm can hold bucky
  • Shielding - Gonad shielding without obscuring anatomy
  • Instructions - Stand comfortably
  • SID - 100cm
  • Central Ray - 2.5cm medial to ASIS on anterior rotated side

  • Stabilization – standing comfortably, arm can hold bucky
  • Shielding - Gonad shielding without obscuring anatomy
  • Instructions - Stand comfortably and rotate leg
  • SID - 100cm
  • Central Ray - Perpendicular to image plate at femoral neck, 2.5cm inferior to the midpoint between the pubic symphysis and ASIS

  • Positioning - Pt is upright at the bucky and hip is to be abducted to 45 in frog leg position, close to bucky. Non-weight bearing is possible.
  • Stabilization – standing comfortably, arm can hold bucky
  • Shielding - Gonad shielding without obscuring anatomy Instructions - Stand comfortably and frog leg
  • SID - 100
  • Central Ray - Perpendicular to cassette at midpoint level of femoral neck
  • Tube Tilt - 0 Collimation - M-L, inlcude all soft tissues o the hip S-I, superior to the acetabulum and proximal 1/3 of femur
