SB1a - Microscopes Flashcards
What is the most common microscope used today?
Hooke’s microscope
What was the magnification of Hooke’s microscope?
x30
What is the formula of magnification?
Mag=image length/object length
What’s the problem with a light microscope?
It has limited magnification and they have limited resolution causing a blurred image
What is an electron microscope?
Where jnstead of light, beams of electrons are passed through the object to build up an image
Why are electron microscopes better?
They have a much greater magnification and resolution
What are the unit measurements in order starting with millimetres?
Millimetres, micrometers, manometers and picometers
What did you divide each unit of measurement by to get the next one when getting smaller?
1000
What’s the difference of today’s light microscope with Hooke’s?
It has a much larger magnification of up to x270
