A

Used to make consistent products, maintaining a quality standard. Eg. Clothing, newspapers
- Large batches reduces overall cost per item
- templates/moulds ensure consistency
- each batch tested for quality & uniformity
- machinery may need to be recalibrated between batches, causing downtime
