Starting Engines

- Type: “ Crew, this will be a GPU start of the Number 2 engine, followed by Number 1 engine”
- Problems: “ Anyone sees anything abnormal let me know. I decide to abort the start or continue.
Gnd, you want me to stop the Start, say “Stop Start”, if I do NOT respond, bang on the nose and give me the
‘Cut Throat’ Signal, and I will stop the Start. Gnd, you want us to Egress, say “EGRESS, EGRESS, EGRESS’, if we DO Not respond, bang on the nose, and give us the ‘throw away shoulder harness’ Signal, at which point we will Egress. In case of an Egress, I do my Four, Co Pilot you do your Four. JUMP [if part of Cockpit Crew] choose the Appropriate Exit.”) - Rendezvous: “Gnd, we are 2 [3 with JUMP] Souls aboard, together with you makes 3 [4 with JUMP]. We are parked on MIKE 5. - Type of Takeoff and Departure: ““Crew, this will be a 10/Zero Flap static/rolling Takeoff from the left/right Seat .”
- Problems: “If we have a problem below S1 we abort, above S1 we continue the takeoff. We won’t do any thrust reducing Bold Face unless we are at 400 Feet, and we won’t do any checklist items or Dash One, unless we are at 1,500 Feet or Pattern
Altitude. Crew, it is VMC. In case of an emergency we attempt to land on the outside rwy. It that does not work, we turn downwind, and ask for vectors to final.” - Altimeter setting/numbers: “My altimeter is 30.00, -showing 1080, and we are cleared the Laughlin One/ Hinko departure to X thousand feet/ Flight Level XXX. Unless there are any questions the briefing is complete”

Approach briefing
A
- Wx: “ Crew, it is VMC” or (P) “ Crew, it is 800 feet broken to overcast in light drizzle, with a visibility of 1.5 miles” etc.
- Type: “ This will be a visual approach to RWY 13 center for a planned 30 flap touch and go, with an approach speed of 116 knots”
or
“This will a Back Course Localizer approach to RWY 10 at Midland International for a practice 10 flap single engine approach to a planned go around with an approach speed of 122 knots.” Etc. - Termination: “ Option to Radar. Unless there are any questions the briefing is complete”
