ADMINISTRATION FOR IV?
A
dilute to 200mcg/ml with glucose 5 or sodium 0.9
if fluid restricted can give undiluted through venous catheter
injection: dilute to 50mcg/ml with glucose 4 or sodium chloride 0.9

adverse effects?
A
arrhythmias, headache, hypokalaemia, muscle spasms, nausea, palpitations, rash, bronchospase, vasodilation, ischaemia

pregnancy counselling?
A
must be informed for the importance of maintaining control of asthma
can be taken as usual

monitoring?
A
if severe asthma: plasma potassium concentration due to risk of hypokalemia
diabetes: monitor BG ESPECIALLY if given IV

RISKS in diabetes?
A
hyperglycaemia and ketoacidosis

cautions?
A
arrhythmia, CVD, diabetes, hypertension, susceptible to QT-prolongation

A
3-5 hours
