A

A

hypokalemia- dangerous in CVD and patients with caridac glycosides (dignoxin), in hepatic impairment this can precipitate encephalopathy

contraindicated in?

A

renal failure due to nepthron toxic drugs
severe hypokalaemia and hyponatreamia
hepatic impairment- hypokalaemia may precipitate hepatic encephalopathy- use potassium sparing diuretic to prevent e.g. amiloride, spirinolactone
high doses or IV can cause tinnitus and deafness
anuria

A

CVD patients and those treated with cardiac glycosides
hepatic impairment- encephalopathy
enlarged prostate- urinary retention can occur
hepatorenal syndrome- may reduce diuretic effect and increase side effects
