Safeworking - Train Derailed/Obstructed

Question 1

What should the driver do if the train has stopped in the Section for any reason?

Answer 1

• Check mirrors to see if train has derailed
• Secure the train
• REC/TEC call to TC
• State circumstances (Reactive Track Access Request form if required)
• State exact location and length of train
• Make PA announcement

Question 2

If a parallel line is obstructed/train derailed the driver must?

Answer 2

• REC call
  (- Emergency, Emergency, Emergency
• TDN, Origin/Destination
• Location
• Nature of emergency. Eg. Obstructed, Overhead
• Required response
• ID any hazards)

THEN

• Red Marker lights
• Headlights on High Beam
• Whistle (if train is approaching)
• Red flag on front of train
• Emergency Track Circuit Jumpers Cables (if applicable)
• All means necessary (ATW’s)
