Risk Management Knowledge Area Flashcards
What are the two levels of project risk addressed by Project Risk Management processes:
- Individual Project Risk: is an uncertain event which could have positive or negative effect on the project objectives
- Overall Project Risk: is the effect of uncertainty on the project as a whole, arising from all sources of uncertainty including individual risks, representing the exposure of stakeholders to the implications of variations in project outcome, both positive and negative.
Define risk
uncertainty; an unknown future event; positive risks are opportunities, negative risks are threats
Define residual risk
any risk remaining after the risk response strategy is implemented; left- over risk
Define secondary risk
a risk that arises from the execution of a risk response plan
Define qualitative risk analysis
A quick and easy risk assessment method that combines the probability and impact to assign a risk score
Expected Monetary Value (EVM)
formula: EMV = Probability x impact
Tornado Diagram
uses the results of a sensitivity analysis to graphically show which variables have the greatest impact on the project
Threat Strategies
Escalate Avoid Transfer Mitigate Accept
Opportunity Strategies
Escalate Exploit Share Enhance Accept
Define Reserves
money or time set aside in case a risk occurs; contingency reserves are for identified risks; management risks are for unidentified risks
