Q

When does this occur?

= due to the lack of oxyen
= occurs in the cytoplasm of the cell only

Q

What happens in anaerobic respiration?

A

= pryuvate produced in glycolosis, is reduced to form ethanol and carbon dioxide (in plants and microbes)
= or lactate in animals
= by gaining the hydrogen to reduce NAD
= this oxidises NAD so that ot can be reused, so even though there is no oxygen, the anaerobic rspiration can continue

Q

What happens in animal cells and plant cells?

A

= pryuvate is reduced, gains a hydrogen so NAD is oxidised
= this forms lactate
= this produces a net movement of ATP
= this re-oxidises the NAD so that can be used again in glycolosis
= evem though there is no oxygen

= in plants and microbes, reduced to form ethanol and carbon doxide
= gaining hre hydrogen NAD is oxidised so glycolosus can continue
