monohybrid cross and dihybrid codominance Flashcards
What is monohybrid?
= single leter
= capital or lower case
What are the gametes?
= there should be 4 gametes
= each allele should be in a gamete
What is dihybrid?
= when there are 2 characteristics these are each encoded by 2 alleles of a gene
= So like tall plants nd shoer plants, T for tall and t for short
and then red or yellow
R for red
r for yellow
How do we do these dihybrid crosses?
= You would find the combination between the pairs of alleles for each parent so if it is:
TTrr it can mix to be Tr and thats the only comnination
If there is:
ttRR the combination is TR
so these are the only 2 gametes but there cold be more
* MIX BETWEEN THE TWO CHARACTERISTICS
What is co-domimance?
= both alleles of a gene, are equal domiance , so there may be 3 possible phenotypes
=
What do the gametes contain?
= only one copy of each letter
