Pacinian Corpuscle - Pressure receptor Flashcards
what does the pns include?
= receptirs
= sensory nnueron
= mitor nueron
what does pacinian corpsule react to?
=pressure changes
= receptors are found deep in skin- fingers and feet
=
What does the pacininain coruspule include?
= singlw sensory nueron]
= wrapped in layers of tissue seperated by gel
= has special channel protins in emmebrane
what are the structure of plasma membranes?
=contain channel proteins,
= membranes surrounding the sensoru nueron have stretched mediaed sodium channels
= channels can open and allow Na+ ions to enter sensory nueron only when stretched or deformed
= pressure has to be applied to stretch and open the channels
What happens in the resting state, no pressure stimulus?
= Na+ ions are too narrow, for Na+ to diffuse into sensory nuerons
= resting potentail is maintained
= when pressure is applied, deforms the nueron plasma membrane, streches and widens the Na+ channels so Na+ ions can diffuse in so generator potential happens
what does the number of channels depend om?
= how much pressure is being applied
Why may adding more pressure have no effect on the membrane potential difference?
= threshold has been reached, all or nothing principle, rememer when threshold has been reached and an action potetnail has been generated, another actin potential cannot be generated, repolrosatio happens
