What is a gonad?
An endocrine gland that produces gametes
What is a reproductive glycoprotein?
Lutenising hormone and follicular stimulating hormone from gonadotroph cells in the anterior pituitary
What is a reproductive peptide?
Gonadotrophin releasing hormone, secreted by the hypothalamus
What is a reproductive eicosanoid?
Prostaglandins
What is an example of a reproductive amine?
Dopamine and melatonin
What does inhibin do?
A protein secreted by female granulosa cells or male sertoli cells in response to FSH. Negatively feedbacks to reduce FSH.
What does oestradiol/oestrogen do?
Produced by granulosa/theca cells, providing negative feedback on the hypothalamus and anterior pituitary to control FSH/LH

What does progestone do?
Produced by the corpus luteum and placenta and is important for foetal maintenance
What does testosterone do?
Produced by leydig cells
It regulates sex drive (libido), bone mass, fat distribution, muscle mass and strength, and the production of red blood cells and sperm
