Herrick

A

RAF Regiment Units were required to maintain the security of air bases in Afghanistan on Op
HERRICK from 2003 to 2014. Firstly Kandahar Air Field, 2003 to 2010, and secondly Bastion
air base, 2006 to 2014. The tempo of operations in both theatres of war meant that the RAF
Regiment and its personnel were under continuous strain and operational deployments were
very close together.
