What does the DFDR stand for? What is it? How long does it keep a recording?
- Digital Flight Data Recorder
- A fire, shock proof box with an underwater locator beacon and recorder
- Records the last 25 hours of mandatory parameters
Which system records all communications and aural warnings? How much of it is retained?
CVR. Only the last two hours of the recording are retained
What does CVR stand for?
Cockpit Voice Recorder
Is the operation of DFDR automatic? Where is the control located?
- Fully automatic
2. Controls are located on the overhead panel (RCDR)
When does the blue On light on the GND CTL disappear? Why then does it disappear?
As soon as the first engine is started. This means the the DFDR has switched into Auto mode
When do the CVR and DFDR run?
- During the first 5 mins after energization
2. With one engine running
When do the CVR and DFDR stop recording?
5 minutes after the 2nd engine is shutdown
What happens to the DFDR after the aircraft electrical network is first supplied on the ground?
It is energized for the first 5 minutes
On the Pedestal, what is the DFDR Event pb?
When pressed, can set an even on the DFDR tape
If there is a fault with the DFDR, is there an ECAM and ECAM action?
Yes.
On ECAM:
Recorder: DFDR Fault. No actions
What is AIDS? What does it do?
- Aircraft Integrated Data System
2. Through AIDS, the aircraft monitors various systems to assist maintenance
What is the AIDS Print pb on the pedestal?
the AIDS Print pb prints out in paper, a snapshot of the various parameters
Do the CVR test procedure
During Cocpit Preparation
1. RCDR GND CTL pb-ON (check PARK BRK is on)
2. LOUDSPEAKER VOLUME knob-OFF (BOTH SIDES)
3. ACP INT/RAD sw (CAPT and F/O) set-INT
4. INTERPHONE VOLUME RECEPTION KNOB (CAPT and F/O)-RELEASE (Turn down the volume to the minimum)
5. CVR TEST pb-PRESS and MAINTAIN
The CVR test is successful when an audio test signal is heard through the loudspeakers and the CVR TEST pb is pressed and maintained.
Depending on the CVR model, the audio test signal is:
For CVR 30 minutes: a continuous tone, or short tone.
For CVR 120 minutes: a short tone, or a short tone and a beep every 4 s, or two short tones and a beep every 4 s.
