Cabin Pressurization Flashcards
What are the pressurized areas of the aircraft?
- Cockpit
- Avionics bay
- Cabin
- Cargo compartments
How is air supplied into the cabin?
Air is supplied to the pressurized areas via the air conditioning packs
What is an outflow valve?
An outflow valve (controlled by 2 Cabin Pressure Controllers or CPC 1&2) is used to regulate the outgoing air
What does CPC stand for? How many are they?
Cabin Pressure Controller
There are 2
Do both CPC system work at the same time?
No. Only one CPC system operates at a time, the other as back up
How is the Safety Valve controlled and what is it used for?
- Fully automatic
2. To avoid excessive cabin Differential Pressure
What is Delta P on ECAM
The difference between outside and inside the aircraft pressure. As the outflow valve closes and we fly higher, Delta P increases. Cabin Altitude, decreases.
As the outflow valve is opened, Delta P decreases but the Cabin Altitude will increase
The relationship of V/S FT/MN and Cabin Altitude?
As the outflow valve closes, the altitude decreases, V/S FT/MIN will show a negative vertical speed, ex. -600.
As the outflow valve is opened, the cabin altitude will rise, V/S FT/MIN will show a positive vertical speed. Ex. 700
When does the V/S Ft/min start to blink?
Pulses at V/S > 1,750 ft/mn and resets at 1,650 ft/mn
Where can the crew monitor the cabin pressure system?
- ECAM CAB PRESS page 2. Cruise page.
3. V/S is displayed on the Door page and only when airborne.
On the ground, the outflow valve should be fully closed or open?
Open with the cabin fully depressurized
