Engine Flashcards
What is the HP (high pressure) bleed air pressure delivered by each engine?
36 psi
With the failure of EPR, what happens?
The autothrust is lost. To revert to N1 mode, on the overhead panel press each engines N1 mode button.
At which detent on the Thrust Levers will the autothrust disarm and Alpha Floor deactivate?
Setting the thrust levers to the Idle detent will disarm the autothrust and deactivate Alpha Floor
After taking off, when do the auto thrust engage?
Setting the thrust lever to the Climb detent
What is TLA?
Thrust lever angle
What is green dot speed?
Best left and drag ratio or single engine operating speed in clean configuration
What does FADEC stand for?
Full authority digital engine control
How many channels does the FADEC have?
Each FADEC has 2 channels. One that is operating and one on standby
What is the relationship of the EIC (Engine Interface Unit) to the FADEC?
The EIC transmits the Data FADEC uses for it’s engine management. The FADEC controls the engine operations during start until shut down. It transmits it’s engine parameters and monitoring to the cockpit.
When is the FADEC self powered?
The FADEC is self powered by a magnetic alternator when N2 is above 10%. Before and after, it is powered by the aircraft electrical system then turned off.
If the engine failure no longer exists, can the N1 mode be switched off to return the engines to EPR mode?
Yes
What are the differences with the N1 modes rated and unrated?
N1 Rated mode shows N1 limit on the upper right of the EWD, TLA and TLA max limit on the N1 engine arc. The unrated does not show these.
During MRev, what limits this mode? N1 or EPR? Other than MRev?
Limited by N1. Not EPR. Other than M1, EPR is the reference
What do the detents on the Thrust Lever represent?
Maximum thrust limit for that detent
When on take off, what initial setting do you set the engines to using the EPR?
1.05
