What are the three hydraulic systems of the A320?
Green, yellow & blue
Which hydraulics are pressurized by their respective engines?
Green and yellow
Can the yellow hydraulic be pressurized with both engines stopped?
Yes. On the ground with an electric pump and a hand pump for crews to operate the cargo doors with no electric power available
What enables the green and yellow to pressurize each other automatically?
The PTU. Power transfer unit
Where are the fire shut off valves located for each engine? How are they turned on?
Just before the engine pumps of each engine, controlled by the fire push button from the fire panel
In an emergency, other than the blue hydraulic pump, what else can pressurize the blue hydraulic system?
RAT, Ram Air Turbine
What speed is needed for the RAT to operate with the Hydraulic system?
The RAT can be deployed at any speed. It is manually deployed for the Hydraulics
Each hydraulic system supplies how much psi to the system?
3000psi
If a hydraulic reservoir where to fail, Low Level, can this be restarted later like the Overheat scenario?
No
What are the sections of the Hydraulic system on the ECAM HYD page?
- Green and yellow reservoirs
- Green and yellow fire shut off valves
- Their engine pumps
- Yellow electrical pump
- RAT

- Pressure indications
When extending the RAT through the Hydraulic panel, does the RAT power the Emergency Generator?
No. But the RAT can be pressed later through the EMER ELEC PWR so that the Emergency Generator can be powered by the RAT.
How much pressure does the RAT deliver to the blue system?
2500 psi
The Cargo door activates the yellow hydraulic through a? What are inhibited?
Yellow hand pump. Manual control.
It allows for control of the cargo doors with the use of the yellow hydraulics. When using the cargo door lever, the yellow electrical and hydraulic pumps becomes available. Set the lever to Open or Close operates the pumps.
All yellow functions are inhibited except for Reverser 2 and the Park Brakes.
The Blue hydraulic system is on when? When does it shut down?
On when at least one pump is running. Shuts down when both engines are off*. Ex. Dual engine failure, that is why the RAT is dropped out.
Can be overridden via the Blue pump override pb from the maintenance panel on the overhead panel.
How is the RAT deployed?
Either through the failure of both AC Busses, dual engine failure or dropped out manually
