Animals don’t have rights because they are made without a soul, although we still have a duty to care about them

Christians believe in stewardship
They believe in parable of the talents - we should leave the world in a better placed for future generations
Show support to organisations that help preserve life, join and online campaign, adopt and animal, pray, leave money in their will, donate money

Buddhist monks will not kill animals for food but have to eat whatever is put in their alms bowl so will eat meat if it is out in there.
The person who kills an animal has karmic debt but eating meat is not a problem for some Buddhists
Many are though because of the first precept, metta, Kaurna.
The Buddha specifically forbade monks and nuns from slaughtering animals
