What is a Ramp Safety Survey?
A visual inspection from a vehicle to identify violations or safety issues on the ramp
What is the speed limit on aircraft ramps?
20 MPH, reduced to 5 MPH around aircraft
Who must ensure personnel comply with ramp survey guidelines?
The District Chief
How often must ramp safety surveys be performed?
At least two times per day in designated ramp areas
Which CFR unit inspects AS 1, 3, and SAPM fireman platforms?
Centerfield Fire Station CFR unit
Which CFR unit inspects the West Ramp?
Westfield Fire Station CFR unit
What must be inspected during each ramp survey?
At least one fuel cart or fuel truck (Centerfield) or fuel tanker/tank (Westfield)
Who is the Airfield Operations Supervisor and how are they contacted?
Ops-2, contacted via GOAA Comm extension 2036 or radio patch
What must be done if unsafe fueling practices or violations are found?
Contact the appropriate GOAA department and take corrective action
Who handles significant fuel issues?
OIAFR Fuel Safety Coordinator (804), Fuel agency supervisor, and Ops-2
What are examples of life safety issues?
Blocked exit doors, blocked egress stairs, obstructed escape routes
What code requires clear egress paths?
NFPA 101: 7.1.10.1
What are fire prevention discrepancies to look for?
Blocked hydrants/extinguishers, damaged extinguishers, flammable storage issues
Where is smoking permitted on the ramp?
Only in designated smoking areas
What is FOD?
Foreign Object Debris that can damage aircraft
What should be done with excessive FOD?
Contact Ops-2 and remove hazardous items immediately
What is required for all fueling equipment?
Quarterly GOAA sticker, vehicle number, company name, signage, inspection tag
How far must fueling vehicles be parked from buildings or aircraft?
At least 50 feet
What distance must separate parked fueling vehicles?
10 feet
What is prohibited during aircraft fueling?
GSE fueling and all fueling during a ground stop
What must be used during fueling to prevent static discharge?
Bonding cable between aircraft and fueler
What must personnel avoid carrying during fueling?
Lighters, matches, e-cigarettes
What is the rule on cell phone use during fueling?
Not permitted within 10 feet of fueling operations
When may passengers remain onboard during fueling?
Only if a trained flight attendant is near the emergency exit
What should be done if fuel is spilled?
Stop flow, dike area, clean immediately using absorbents
What type of container should be used for absorbent waste?
Metal container
What tools must be used for cleaning fuel spills?
Broom and non-sparking shovel
