moves across the lateral wall of cavernous sinus leaves middle cranial fossa through foramen rotundum and crosses upper part of pterygoid fossa and continues as infraoribital

runs on the lateral wall of maxillary sinus and supplies upper premolars
anterior superior alveolar nerve
comes off from infra orbital canal runs through sinuous canal through anterior wall of maxillary sinus and supplies the upper incisors canine and anterior inferior part of nasal cavity
features of pterygopapaltine ganglion
largest parasympthateic peripheral ganglion
act as relay station for secretomotor fibers to lacrimal gland and mucous glands of nose, palatine, pharynx and paranasal sinus
parasympathetic root of the ganglion is made by
nerve of pterygoid canal
preganglionic fibers of the ganglion arises from ( whole course) from neurons present in
superior salivatory, lacrimatory nuclei, nervus intermedius, facial nerve, geniculate ganglion , greater petrosal nerve, and nerve of pterygoid canal to reach ganglion
synpathetic root of the ganglio is derived from
the nerve of pterygoid canal
postganglionic of sympathetic root arises from
superior cervical sympathetic ganglion, internal carotid plexus, deep petrosal, nerve of pterygoid canal to the ganglion

nasal branches
lateral posterior superior nasal branch supplies posterior part of superior and middle conchae
medial posterior nasal branch supplies posterior part of roof or nose and nasal septum
nasopalatine transmits through incisive foramen
pharyngeal branch
enters through palatino vaginal canal and supplies nasopharynx
