restrict diet, calorie count, self induce vomiting, diuretics/ laxatives, excessive exercise
what endocrine abnormalities can anorexia cause
decreases thyroid, causes arrhythmias, bone health and loss of periods
what is bulimia nervosa
attempts to restrict intake fail leading to binges, they then make themselves through up
what different symptoms cab BN show
ulcers in mouth, bad teeth, russell’s signs on knuckles, no endocrine abnormalities
who is not at risk of AN and BN
young women - men 10x reduced risk
what is the best treatment
weight gain and sustained normal diet
what drugs can be given for
antidepressants and antipsychotics
what is a medically unexplained symptom
no organic cause, doctor isn’t sure if real or manifestation of psychological disorder
