can easily be pushed back in
what is an incarcenated hernia
can not be easily manipulated back in
what is a strangulated hernia
becomes ischaemia
describe epigastric hernias
defect in linea alba, midline lump (may be pain)
what are paraumbilical hernias
painful, common in all ages, needs surgery and is associated with pregnancy, obesity and ascites
what are inguinal hernias
direct = cough, indirect = doesnt pop back out with cough. more common in right and in men in groin area, better lying down
what is the investigations and treatment for inguinal hernias
USS and surgery
what are femoral hernias
more common in women, high strangulation chance
what are incisional hernias
iatrogenic from surgeries
