When analysing a frontal xray film, what terms are used to differentiate top and bottom of the film?
Cranial (towards the head) and caudal (towards the tail).
When analysing a frontal xray film, what terms are used to differentiate left and right of the film?
Left and right from patient perspective.
When analysing a lateral xray film, what terms are used to differentiate left and right of the film?
Anterior (towards sternum) and posterior (towards the spine).
What is the bottom of a foot called in an xray?
Plantar.
What is the top of a foot called in an xray?
Dorsal.
What is the top of the hand called in an xray?
Dorsal.
What is the bottom or palm of the hand called in an xray?
Palmar.
What is the term used to describe aspects of the body close to the midline?
Medial.
What is the term used to describe aspects of the body close to the outside?
Lateral.
What terms are used to describe how far away from the origin?
Proximal (close to origin) and distal (further away from origin).
How do medical contrasts work?
Substance that will block or limit radiation so you can get a better image.
What plane is ct scan?
Axial or transverse. Has to be reformatted for other planes.
What is the long bone of the arm?
Humerus.
What colour is CSF in a T2 weighted MRI?
Bright/white.
What is the colour is fat in a T2 weighted MRI?
Grey.
