Majority of drug targets are proteins. What are the four main classes?
A
Receptors, Enzymes, Transport proteins and ion channels.

How do drugs affect target molecule?
A
Enhance activation or prevent activation.

What makes a good drug?
A
High degree of selectivity. Large difference between dose required to induce desired effect and dose that will cause adverse effects.

What can a high dose of a drug lead to?
A
Drug binding to similar targets (off target effects). This can lead to adverse effects. Can also be on the same target in other tissues.
