What is gender based violence?
Violence directed against a person because of their gender, or violence affecting that gender disproportionately.
Includes acts that inflict mental, physical or sexual harm/suffering or threats of such.
Includes domestic abuse
What are the HARK questions?
Humiliate, afraid, raped, kicked (physically hurt)
Does your partner humiliate or hit you?
Are you ever afraid of your partner?
Has your partner ever raped you?
Has your partner ever kicked or physically hurt you?

What is child abuse?
Child abuse constitutes all forms of physical, emotional or sexual abuse, neglect or exploitation
resulting in actual or potential harm to child’s health, survival, development of dignity
Who is an adult at risk?
Adults at risk” are adults (over the age of 16) who –
a) are unable to safeguard their own well-being, property, rights or other interests;
b) are at risk of harm; and
because they are affected by disability, mental disorder, illness or physical or mental infirmity, are more vulnerable to being harmed than adults who are not so affected.
