Vitreous body comes away from retina, common with age

What is the vitreous body?
A
Gel inside eye that maintains eyeball structure and keeps retina on choroid
Made up of collagen & water with eye it becomes less firm

Presnetation of posterior vitreous detachment?
A
May be asymptomatic
- Painless
- Vision loss spots
- Floaters
- Flashing lights

Management of posterior vitreous detachment?
A
Non necessary, brain adjusts
Can predispose patient to retinal tears/detachments
