A

Policies and procedure for specific needs are designed to protect service user with specific needs from risk, ensuring they are cared for by people who are qualified to meet their needs and are informed about the best ways to do safely. The policies and procedures are also designed to help protect the staff who provide the services.

A

Regulations require staff to follow codes of practice, guideline, policies and procedures which are designed to ensure that service users are protected and safe. Effective implementation of these documents ensures that staff work together to prevent and protect service users from abuse, empower and support people to make their own choices and investigate actual or suspected abuse and neglect as well as provide services to people who are experiencing abuse, neglect and exploitation.

A

Policies and procedures protect managers, professionals, volunteers and staff working in public, voluntary and private sectors organisation. When health and social care workers follow policies and procedures, they are implementing best practice to meet needs, using the relevant skills provided to work in their area, working effectively with colleagues, working within the law, adhering to guidelines that are designed to keep them safe at work, for example using safe lifting techniques and infection control, minimising risk, both to themselves and to the service user and more protected if something goes wrong.
