How does coronavirus present in rats? What does it cause? Transmission? Treatment?

A

CS - bleeding from the eyes, exophthalmic, squinting, and swollen face and neck, red discharge (stress from the Harderian gland).
Coronavirus in rats causes sialodacryoadentitis which causes inflammation and necrosis of the salivary and lacrimal glands.
Tx - self-limiting and usually resolves within 2 weeks
Transmission - respiratory aerosol

What does hypovitaminosis C look like in a guinea pig? Tx?

A

AKA scurvy
CS - oral petechiae, loose teeth, rough hair coat, lameness
Tx - vitamin C injections, leafy green veggies
Not multivitamin can have Vit A and D toxicity
