what does the PNS consist of?

what is a nerve?and what types are in the PNS?
a bundle of axons sheathed in c.t
nerves
cranial and spinal nerves
what are cranial nerves?
12 pairs number i-xii
may be motor sensory or both
what is the olfactory nerve?
i- smell (olfaction) -sensory
what is the optic nerve?
ii- vision-sensory
what is the oculomotor nerve?
iii- movements of eye and eyelid and pupil constriction-motor
what is the trochlear nerve?
iv- eye movements looking downward-motor
what is the trigeminal nerve?
v- sensory- from skin of face, teeth, gums
motor- muscles of mastication and tongue
what is the abducens nerve?
VI- lateral eye movements - sensory
what is the facial nerve?
VII- sensory- taste from 2/3 of tongue
motor- facial expression muscles lacrimal gland and salivary gland
what is the vestibulocochlear nerve?
VIII- hearing balance and equilibrium -sensory
what is the glossopharyngeal nerve?
IX- sensory- taste from posterior 1/3 of tongue and throat carotid artery BP
motor- salivary glands and swallowing muscles
what is the vagus nerve?
X- visceral sensory and visceral motor for thoracic and abdominopelvic organs
what is the accessory nerve?
XI- sternocleidomastoid and trapezius also muscles of pharynx and vocal cords - motor
what is the hypoglossal nerve?
XII- tongue muscles- motor
