Name some typical presentatoins of PCT
Blistering, fragility, hyperpigmentation, solar urticaria, hypertrichosis
What causes PCT?
Alcohol, viral hepatitis, oestrogens and haemochromatosis
What is erythropoietic protoporphyria
A deficiency in ferrocheltase causes a build up of protoporphyrins.
How does Erythropoietic protoporphyria present?
Burning/ itch skin, usually during childhood
Is erythropoietic porphyria genetic or not?
Genetic
How do you manage EPP
6 monthly LFTs and RBC porphyrins. Prophylactic phototherapy, antioxidants.
