  • Reduced risk of infections (GI, UTIs, otitis media, respiratory diseases, NEC; encrotizing enterocolitis in preterm babies)

  • Protection against later development of atopic diseases e.g. eczema
  • Lower incidence of insulin dependant diabetes
  • Lower incidence of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS)
