Checks equipment and anesthetic machine • Checks patient into theatre suite + handover to surgical team • Application of Monitoring • Assist with airway management • Ensures drugs available for case • Continual patient assessment • Crisis management
Circulator Nurse

Set up of sterile field (opening) • Conducts count of instruments and accountable items with scrub nurse • Communicate & collaborate with team • Conducts ‘Time- Out’ • Continual assessment of patient & surgical field • Completes appropriate documentation

Responsible for establishing &
maintaining the intraoperative
integrity, safety & efficacy of the
sterile field

(Scrub) ROLES
• Set up of sterile field in collaboration with circulating nurse • Assessment of patient & preempting surgical instruments or equipment • Managing instruments & accountable items on the sterile field • Drains + dressings • Handover to PACU • Important to have understanding of the surgical procedure
