Ask- Why have you presented to emergency?
Conduct vital signs.
gather medical hx
Enquire about the pain: location, when did it start?, continuous or
intermittent, nature of the pain (stabbing, burning, ache),
radiating?, tender on palpation?, abdomen distended?
Any trouble with bowels or urine?

A
  • clean wound with normal saline, make sure no foreign body (gravel)
  • dress wound with basic wound dressing
  • offer paracetamol
  • ask if tetanus up to date? may need ADT
  • D/C home after checking with EDMO
