What is the perineal body?
anchor point for muscles between genitals and anus
central tendon that adds strength
What is the venous return above the pectinate line?
hepatic portal vein
What is the venous return below the pectinate line?
internal iliac vein (systemic)
What is the root of the penis in females?
clitoris
How does the female UG triangle differ from males?
bulb and bulbospongiosus are split by vagina
What is the third element that females dont have?
spongiosim
not in clitoris
Is the shaft covered in muslce and bulb?
No
root only
What is in the superficial pouch?
superficial transverse perineal muslces
crura and bulb
some neuro vasculature
vestibular (lubricating) glands in FEMALE ONLY
What is the UG diaphragm?
deep transverse perineus and sphincter urethra

What is the blood supply of the perineum?
internal pudental artery
artery and nerve give branches to rectum
What does the pudental nerve supply?
perineum and splits into perineal, inferior rectal, amd doral nerves of penis (clit)
artery supplies rectum too
What are the three differenes between females and males?
1 splitting of bulb to form vagina
2 greater vestulbar glands are in the superficial pouch in females
3 corpus spongiosum does not contribute to formation of clit
Where is the greater vestibular glands in males?
deep pouch
Where is the inferior rectal nerves?
go through canal over opturator internus muscle
What is straddle injury?
due to tear in spongey urethra that allows blood and urine to travel into the scrotum and up the abdominal wall as defined by boundaries of colles and scarpas fascia- more common in males because longer
