Pelvic bones, joints and ligaments - Week 4 Flashcards
Pelvic Girdle movements and function
Lateral pelvic rotation/tilt, anterior pelvic rotation/tilt, posterior pelvic rotation/tilt
Weight bearing, weight transference, protection
Bones of the pelvic girdle
Ilium, ischium, pubis
Bony landmarks of the pelvic girdle
These need to be learnt
Joints of the pelvic girdle (5)
Lumbosacral joint, Sacroiliac joint, Hip joint, Sacrococcygeal joint, pubic symphysis
Pelvic ligaments
Anterior: Iliolumbar ligament, anterior sacroiliac, anterior sacrococcygeal, pectineal ligament, inguinal ligament
Posterior: Sacrotuberous, sacrospinous, posterior sacroiliac, posterior sacrococcygeal, supraspinous
Pelvic ligaments (posterior)
Posterior sacro-iliac ligament, sacrospinous ligament, sacrotuberous ligament, posterior sacrococcygeal ligament
What is the pelvic foramen and which ligaments and bones make this?
It is composed of the posterior wall of the ischium and anterior surface of the sacrum. The sacrotuberous and sacrospinous ligaments form the greater and lesser foramen
