Muscle names & connective tissue - Week 2 Flashcards
Muscles are named through a combination of
Location, attachment, shape/number of origins, size, direction, action
Connective tissues
Tendons, aponeurosis, fascia
What are tendons made from, where are they found and what is their role
Collagen, found in the epimysium, perimysium & endomysium and their role is to attach muscle to bone
Aponeurosis made of and role
Collagen, flat sheets of “tendons” which anchor the muscle to skeleton and deep fascia
Where is fascia found
Covers most of the body deep to the skin
How does proprioception occur in voluntary muscle
Sensory neurons surrounding muscle spindles in the muscle sense whether a muscle is contracting or relaxing.
Motor neurons - promote movement
Sensory neurons - relay the movement back to the brain
