Iliac region muscles and femoral nerve - Week 4 Flashcards
Muscles of the iliac region?
Psoas minor, psoas major, iliacus, iliopsoas (both)
Psoas major, minor and iliacus attachments, action and nerves that innervate
Study muscle diagram sheet
Does a glute bridge flex or lengthen the iliac muscles?
Lengthen
Where is the lesser trochanter?
Inferior and medial to the greater trochanter on the femur
What does the femoral nerve supply?
Innvervates the anterior thigh
Muscular branches supply - iliacus, pectineus, sartorius, rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, vastus intermedius, articularis genu
Sensory (cutaneous) branches: anterior femoral cutaneous, saphenous nerve
Also supplies hip and knee joints
What does the saphenous nerve supply?
Supplies the medial side of the leg below the knee
Path the saphenous nerve takes
Branch off the femoral nerve that travels down thigh behind sartorius in adductor canal, crosses medial side of knee deep to sartorius tendon, becomes superficial between sartorius and gracilis, supplies skin medial side of leg below the knee.
Downward, hold and upward phase of a squat.
What contraction are the quads performing?
Downward - Eccentric
Hold - Isometric
Upward - Concentric
Femoral triangle includes (NAVL)
Nerve, artery, vein, lymphatic vessels
