What are the four main anatomic segments of the uterus?
Fundus, Corpus (body), Isthmus, Cervix
What is the function of the fundus in the uterus?
The fundus is a broad curved area where the fallopian tubes connect to the uterus.
What is the Arias-Stella reaction?
Nuclear enlargement and hyperchromasia in glandular cells, often seen in pregnancy.
What is acute endometritis?
An uncommon disease usually caused by bacterial infections after delivery, miscarriage, or IUD use.
What are the primary locations of endometriosis?
Ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes, uterosacral ligaments, broad ligaments, round ligaments, cul-de-sac, rectosigmoid colon, bladder, ureters, and rectovaginal septum.
What is an endometrioma?
An endometriotic cyst, often referred to as a chocolate cyst, containing endometriotic glands and stroma.
What is adenomyosis?
Endometrial tissue located within the myometrium, causing reactive hyperplastic myometrium.
What are the clinical manifestations of endometrial polyps?
Irregular menstrual bleeding, menorrhagia, metrorrhagia, menometrorrhagia, and vaginal bleeding after menopause.
What is endometrial hyperplasia?
Increased proliferation of endometrial glands relative to the stroma, often due to prolonged estrogenic stimulation.
What are the two classifications of endometrial hyperplasia?
Non-atypical endometrial hyperplasia (Benign EH) and Atypical hyperplasia / Endometrioid intraepithelial neoplasia (AH / EIN).
