Paramount role specific Flashcards
Do - build dynamic models for business cases and scenarios from scratch to support decision making on opportunities across our UK streaming services
Where i currently have ownership of the My5 forecast, i’ve built in new models to anticate the impact of initiatives such as mandatory regisitration, the launch of Sky Stream and Glass devices based on existing data models in the market, historic seasonality of the platform, similar initiatives in the past
Previously at Freesat, where there has been some interest in lauching TVoD initiative and its profitability, i did some research and built models looking at whether a fully built and managed service would be more profitable as opposed to a an off the shelf and repackaged proposition. I used consumer research to get an idea of uptake and how price points were recieved and ultimately concluded that the of the shelf solution was profitable faster, but the managed solution was more profitable long term
Monitor individual partner performance, identifying and diagnosing performance issues as well as proactively providing reccomendedation
With the ownership of My5 forecast, I work extensively with adobe analytics to see how different content, is performing, but also at a device level - for example when My5 launched on Sky Glass and
Stream its somethign i would monitor closely and revise the forecast as needed if it was under or over performing
Outside of this, at Freesat I did some analysis where I noticed a small channel doing very unexpectedly well as per the BARB numbers which threatened to push it into a place where it wouldn’t have been able to pay its fee to be on the platform which was obviously a risk to Freesat - I did some analysis and found Freesat was the only platform this was happening on and was eventually able to trace it one panel member, as my findings were presented to BARB and resulted in this panel member being taken off the panel and the channel’s numbers went back to normal again
Support senior manager, digital propositions and partnerships with management of all SVOD and AVOD distribution partner platforms including Amazon, Apple, LG, Samsung etc
My previous role was very much a client facing role dealign with all manner of client from broadcast, vod, film
These clients were either subscribed to Ampere’s datasets or comissioning consulting projects, but as clients it was very much a priority to deal with inquiries, questions, delieverables in timely manner as we aspired for these relationships to be long term and positive
Arrange partner meetings, ensuring internal alignment and creating the necessary materials ahead of time, and following up on actions as required
General client mangement at Ampere Analysis
But was also for creating alot of material for regular board meetings at Freesat as part of the board pack, often in the form of board papers - but it was also the cse that ad-hoc questions would come through from the board which I would often be tasked with addressing ahead of the next board meeting - for example when some regional ITV SD channels shut down the board were interested in whwether there had been any impact on customers so i liased with the marketing team to produce a summary of any complaints we’d had had how we were communicating with customers
Work closely with partner marketing team to seek and deliver on new opportunities with existing platform partners for Paramount streaming services
I’ve worked with marekting teams in the past - for example at Freesat I worked with that marketing team to design a test to see which version of their TV advert worked best against specicif criteria
So I have experience with marketing teams more generally and have experience working with external stakeholders but not speciifly with partner marketing teams in this sense but expect i’d be able to leverge my previous experience with marketing teams and external stakeholders in general to deliver on these opportunities for Paramount but this would overall be a new area of me, but one i’d be keen to learn about
Collaborate, align, and knowledge share with both central partnerships team and international counterparts ok partner initiatives relating to P+ and pluto
As part of my ownership of the My5 forecast meeting I run a monthly meeting with stakeholders across product, editorial, content analytics, and forecasting
With the aim of summarising our key findings of the most recent actuals as well as our most recent view of the platform
The forecast has quite alot of moving parts and relies on me knowing whether there are e.g. any boxsets dropping on the platform, or any product related changes which impact the platform so that meeting is really helpful for me to get that information, but also allows those stakeholders to see where those areas that are relevant to them actually impact the platform and our view of the platform which i think makes that dialogue stronger
And its been very well recieved, I try quite hard to make sure i’m able to distill a large amount of information and make it accessable which is something several stakeholder have commented on
Serve as conduit of information, insight, and learnings, to and from the org
Having worked at Ampere Analysis which exists to provide insight to the media instrustry, thats something i’m very familiar with
During my time there I authored several reports, insight pieces, and even led a webinar on relevant research topics for clients - my most interesting one being an overview of the UK addressable advertising market for which I interviewed high profile figures within the industry and presented in person to Liberty Global
I even represented my invididual team within the editorial commitee meetings which saught to ensure that Amperes editorial output was consistent and relevant so thats something saught to enable not just with my own work but also for my team’s work
Want - Demonstrated ability to analyse and compare business opportunities against commercial and strategic criteria
Track-record of providing actionable recommendations based on proactive qualitative and quantitative research
Freesat TVoD thing
Ampere genere analysis
Freesat IP project - I comissioned a project looking at the IP only audience to ultimately think about how Freesat should address this audience, debriefed key findings to the board and made reccomendatiosn generally around to should support the platform in delivering an advanced TV experience
Experience building strong relationships with partners, ideally in streaming
At Ampere Analysis a lot of my work revolved around building strong relationships with industry clients - always saw it as an ongoing process involving things like respecting theit time, so being prepared for meetings, doing the nesesary follow up, providing updated when needed
Especially with more senior stakeholders who are more time poor
Also helpful to just be up to date with general industry knowledge
Advanced modelling and analysis skills within Excel plus proficiency in all other MS-Office products including PowerPoint
Every role I’ve been in has involved buildng models in excel, prior to that I used it to handle large datasets as part of my chemistry degree so its something I have used extensively and use in my current role looking at My5 as well as linear channels
Same thign powerpoint, its somethign I’ve used extensively in all my roles and in general its something I tend to get good feedback in - I do like to find more intersting ways to present information
Confident communicating with, and influencing, external stakeholders
Have extensive experience from ampere analysis
Also the Freesat board where it was always a case of advocating for Freesat as much as possible, use data as much as possible, independent voices
Adept at troubleshooting day-to-day issues and obstacles with internal and external counterparts
Often at Ampere Analysis we’d have client inquires come through with very quick turnarounds, client up against the clock or under a lot of pressure
Depending on whats needed, hopefully knowledge of the datasets is enough and time is available, but thats not always a given if its a bigger problem coming at a busier time - in that instance it would be a case of asking for help from my team and dividing the work where possible
Experience of working in multi-level matrix relationship environment, in a multinational organisation preferred
I literally work at paramount already
Good stakeholder management and relationship building skills - adept at interacting with senior executives and adapting influencing style to different audiences.
Yes - client facing at ampere where the goal would be to ensure further by in with ampere, in which case i’d try to do my research on the person beforehand to best appeal to their interests, if they were a sports client id maybe elaborate some more on sport to keep them engaged
also produced work for and arranged meetings with the Freesat board, where aim was to advocate for Freesat and appeal to their interests, there i would try my best to always come back to the core message that Freesat is is great for BBC and ITV and would always try and give example of this such a how viewing for their channels was so much greater on Freesat then compared with Sky and how a strong Freesat was good for them
