Ampere competencies Flashcards
Prior experience in research or data analysis within the media sector, with the ability to turn complex data into clear insights
Mine is a wide ranging where i’m responsible for Freesat research needs, whether thats our ongoing qualitative research
But i also deal with a lot of data from BARBs audience measurement and data from our own connected device base
A lot of the projects i’ll so will centre around turning that data into clear insight for higher level stakeholders, fo example I did an analysis to investigate how COVID/lockdown has affected viewing on the platform which I turned into a digestable report for the upper management and content team
Strong numeracy, a good attention to detail, and an ability to identify interesting data and trends to produce compelling and relevant research about the industry
I was a Chemistry graduate before I was a TV person so numbers have always come fluidly to me
I deal with a huge volume and breadth of data so a lot of the value I deliver revolves around pulling out whats relevant and interesting
For example I identified IP only homes growing on BARB at the expense of traditional Broadcast homes which prompted a further research piece exploring this behaviour
I’ve also just done a piece looking at SD only homes in the UK, where these homes are and what kind of people they are which means we’re much better informed if we had to transition entirely to HD the people we’d need to help out
A curiosity about industry trends and new developments across the TV and media landscape
we’re really lucky to work in media because there are so many moving parts which drive the trends and developments which happen
I’m curious about the growing role of tech in TV, specifically Google TV/Android TV
How do the incumbents protect themselves
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing them to develop relationships within the company and externally with clients
I work with a wide range of stakeholders so its key that i have good communication skills, whether thats verbally or written
But externally I also work with the Board and our research partners to help secure the best outcomes for Freesat
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office including Excel and Power Point
Use that shit everyday
I use Excel to build forecasts
when we redesigned our ppt template I was asked to be a part of that process because i’m regarded as being a good presenter and using powerpoint well
Strong work ethic, with the ability to respond to ad hoc analytic or research requests
The wide range of my role means I get quite a lot of ad hoc tasks to do
Maybe i need to find a stat for a PR article or a conference panel
SO thats definitely something I’ve become used to
