actions- stimulate smooth muscle contractions of the uterus

Previous hypersenitivity
ever tocameia (pre-eclampsia)
exclude multiple pregnancies before admin
chord prolase

what are the precautions?
A
if given IV can cause transient hypotension
concurrent use with methoxyflurane can cause hypotnesion

what are the side effects?
A
uncommon in IM
tachycarda, bradycardia, nausea

how must oxytocin be sotred?
A
2-8 degrees

what are the onset and duration times?
A
onset 2-4 minutes
duration 30-60 minutes
