how should we position paitent and what may assist with speration of the placenta?
sitting or squatting may help because gravity
breast feeding may help to stimualte contraction
do we do any active manamgnet to deliver the placenta?
no allow for natural seperation- may take anywehere from 15 minutes to an hour
what are some signs of speration?
lengthening of chord, uerus becoming rounded and higher up
trickle or gush of blood
contractions-urge to push returns
when there are signs of speration what should we do?
Birthed by maternal effort
encourgae to give a little push
use two hands to support delivery using a small seasaw motion to assist out if needed
and note time of placental delivery
what do we do with the placenta after it has been delivered?
place placenta and clots into a contanier
inspect for fullness to ensure no retained products
inspect that fundus is firm and contracted/central
continue to monitor funds
continue to monitor blood loss and if PPH
